We encourage you to read this “not all dogs like daycare” document to help get an understanding as to why trials are so important.

1. If your dog is accepted in to Hound Lounge, a place is reserved for your dog to attend at least once a week, on a permanent basis. This is deemed as a recurring booking. We do not accept dogs on a casual basis.
2. Puppies must be at least 6 months to begin our trial process.
3. Your dog must have basic obedience, and already be well socialised before they enrolled with us. Your dog must not persistently / excessively bark.
4. Please do not load any ‘voucher’ or ‘services’. Our team will load all the necessary bits from our end once we are ready to proceed with your enrolment.
5. Please ensure you have read our neutering
policy; it is unlikely we will trial unneutered male dogs.

THE HOUND LOUNGE ENROLMENT PROCESS

To ensure we meet your dog's needs and to make sure they are safe and happy at the Hound Lounge, we want to get to know you and your dog better. Once you have read this page in its entirety and our policies, then you can complete our online enrolment form. If we wish to move forward with your enrolment, we will then contact you to discuss the next steps.

Step 1: The Meet and Greet

The first step of our enrolment process is for us to meet one another. We do this through a meet and greet at your home. This will be with Shelley, the owner of Hound Lounge. At the meet and greet we will get to know you both and answer any questions you may have. Once we have assessed that your dog is the right fit for Hound Lounge, we can then move onto the next steps of the enrolment process.

If you meet our criteria, you will be sent an email inviting you to a meet and greet session, at your home. Meet and greets are typically held during the week usually between 10 and 2. Please allow up to 45 minutes.

For your dog to continue through the Hound Lounge enrolment process, they must at least meet the following criteria at the meet and greet:

  • Be able to demonstrate a basic level of obedience; sits, downs and recalls, without the use of treats.

  • Be willing to approach us in a friendly (and calm) manner in their own home environment.

  • Be confident & social towards other dogs and people.

  • Be comfortable travelling in a vehicle (next year we will be moving to a new fully integrated transport system)

Step 2: The Trial Process

If your dog is invited to move forward with their Hound Lounge enrolment, we will trial your dog at our daycare and we will outline this process with you once we have ascertained the best way forward for your dog to trial with us. No two trial processes are the same - remember we are trying to set your dog up for success with us.

Your dogs’ vaccination information must be loaded to our system before your trial date, and we must receive payment, via internet banking, for your trial before your trial starts.

During the trial process our team will assess your dogs’ fit with our existing pack, and we will tell you how your dog fitted in and any recommendations going forward. Additionally, please note:

  • Most dogs will still require an assessment / probation period for some time after their initial trial day, so should everything go well with the trial, and your dog is invited back, we will continue to provide feedback as we monitor their progress (or not).

  • Some dogs may need another trial, and others may not be accepted into daycare after their trial; this is not a reflection of you, or your dog, it could mean your dog is not enjoying being here, your dog would rather be anywhere else than here, your dog may end up causing a fight so we want to protect them and the other dogs, your dog would rather sleep, or your dog isn't suited for OUR daycare.

We do ask that your dog has basic obedience, and is already well socialised before they come to daycare. As we run an open daycare, all dogs will play together, so we expect them to mix with safe and social play. Due to noise restrictions dogs who persistently bark WILL NOT be able to attend. We have limited availability for [extremely] highly active dogs.

If your dog is accepted in to Hound Lounge, a place is reserved for your dog to attend at least once a week, on a permanent basis. This is deemed as a recurring booking. We do not accept dogs on a casual basis.

Please note: We are do not offer daycare tours. Click here to have a virtual tour of our daycare facility.
